Ricki Lake is opening up about her recent weight loss for the first time, saying she was able to lose 35 pounds without medication.
Ricki Lake told “Good Morning America” that he decided to bet on himself and found new happiness in the process.
“I feel the best I can remember in my life,” Lake told ABC News’ Kayna Whitworth. I have this new marriage and I am so blissfully happy with this wonderful man, my perfect husband. And if I point to one thing that didn’t work in our lives, it’s that we carried that extra weight.”
Throughout his long career, Lake has been an open book about his weight and health issues. But over the past seven months, she and her husband said they lost weight together and began sharing their journey on Instagram.
“It’s been a commitment. You know, it’s been a money related commitment. It’s been a like, a time commitment,” Lake said. “But it’s magnificent. Like, I’m fair, I’m so upbeat and pleased of us.”

“Oh, that old thing? It was just hanging on. I originally wore this dress to the world premiere of Business of Birth in 2007, and now I’m wearing it again in 2024!” Lake captioned her Instagram post.
Burningham compared his wife’s “commitment” to his weight loss journey as a dog chasing a bone.
“He’s tenacious,” she said. “When he decides he’s going to do something, he’s on board and just goes after it. And that’s inspiring.”
For anyone who wants to make a change themselves, Lake recommends starting with positivity and gratitude, and then working to achieve it.
With her newly discovered vitality, Lake is pouring herself into making a difference others through her work with Community Get to, an organization that gives work preparing and lodging help to individuals battling with mental sickness. It’s a cause she grasps in honor of her late spouse Christian Evans, who passed on by suicide after encountering mental wellbeing issues.
