Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat: BJP’s Annamalai leads by over 33,000 votes
Annamalai, 39, has become the president of BJP in Tamil Nadu in 2021. A 2011 batch IPS officer in Karnataka cadre, retired on \1\9 . Nadu BJP leader K Annamalai was left behind in Coimbatore on Tuesday as the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections progressed.
Annamalai defeated his Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) rival Ganapathy Rajkumar by 33,293 votes, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Annamalai, 39, became the BJP president in Tamil Nadu in 2021. An IPS officer in the Karnataka cadre in 2011, he retired in 2019 and joined the BJP a year later.
According to the latest trends of the Election Commission, the BJP is yet to open its account in Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Congress party was seen sweeping the state assembly elections.

All 39 seats in Tamil Nadu went to polls in a single phase for the Lok Sabha elections on April 19. The voting percentage in the state was 72.09.
DMK leads in 21 seats, Congress in 9 seats, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi in 2 seats, Communist Party of India in 2 seats, Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 2 seats and Pattali Makkal Katchi , Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Indian Union Muslim League leads in 1 : together .
In 2019, the DMK-led alliance swept the Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu, winning 39 seats out of 38.

According to EC trends, BJP was leading in 242 seats and Congress in 100 seats. . Samajwadi Party was ahead with 33 seats while TMC had 29 seats.
Most exit polls predicted an outright mandate for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with quite a few predicting a two-thirds majority for the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Party. Alliance (NDA).
The Congress party and its allies dismissed the exit polls as “planned” and “fantasy” and said opposition INDIA will form the next government at the Centre.
