MI Anshul Kamboj gives Travis Head extra life: No Ball nightmare on IPL debut, a 23 year old scored 23 runs

Anshul Kamboja is 23-year-old who had a difficult debut in the Indian Premier League as the MI pacer took two wickets in the second over and saw Travis Head’s dismissal chances dwindle not once but twice. Anshul Kamboj scored 32 runs in the first two innings in MI’s penultimate IPL 2024 home match on May 6 against SunRisers.

Anshul MI saw emotions run high on his IPL debut as he smashed the stumps. Travis Head’s defense as the in-form Australian opener was about to hit 24. When the buzzer sounded at the Wankhede Stadium, much to the young fast bowler’s disappointment, it turned out to be a ball.

Travis Head capitalized on the free kick hitting the line. As it turned out later, Anshul MI also missed the free kick and the off-ball buzzer sounded again. Again the top was allowed to free his hands and he did so for another boundary.

Anshul MI hasn’t had the best of outings in the power but captain Hardik Pandya and senior fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah have kept a hand on the youngster’s shoulder.

MI vs SRH IPL 2024:

MI won by 7 wickets (16 balls left)

The support was evident when Anshul got another, this time after a power play. The 23-year-old broke again when Travis Head’s keeper was almost in the 3rd over. A thick outside edge from the Australian batsman flew towards the deep point region, but down the boundary rope, Nuwan Tushara flew past a simple catch.

Anshul had to wait a little longer for his first outing in the IPL. In the next delivery, he bowled a delivery that hit after the pitch and smashed into Mayank Agarwal’s stumps. The Indian senior became the 23-year-old’s first IPL victim.

Anshul’s outing was eventful as Hardik Pandya trusted the youngster with all four overs in SRH’s first 10 innings. With consistently high 130s, Anshul made it difficult for the batsmen to swing and seam, but a couple of no balls destroyed his character.
